RE study in Garamba park

MARGE is helping on the institutional and economical aspects of the study led by SHER for the design and assistance to the beginning of a project to produce renewable energy in Garamba park. This project aims at improving the living conditions of the rural populations in the buffer zones around Garamba Park. Initially it was expected to be realized through the construction of several hydropower plants providing access to reliable, efficient, affordable and sustainable energy services. However the first phase of the prefeasibility study led in November/ December 2017 found that the hydro resources estimated earlier by a SE4ALL study were less than initially thought. As a result, MARGE is now working on the formulation of a solar programme as a better option to provide sustainable energy to the region.
