Energy efficiency in tea factories

The Ethical Tea Partnership and GIZ contracted MARGE to carry out a study to assess the potential for developing energy efficiency programmes with tea producers in 4 Asian tea producing countries by identifying energy savings potential in the tea sector as well as opportunities to improve energy policies to encourage investments in energy efficiency. The 4 countries of the assignment are: China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India. Eight tea factories in these 4 countries have been audited between October and December 2017. The 8 reports of the investment grade audits will be shared with the respective companies in early February. A final report highlighting the main findings of the audits as well as summarising the main opportunties to develop an energy efficency programme targeting the tea sector in the 4 countries should be ready shortly after this.
